Safer, Simpler Water Disinfection for a Midlands Hospital

Background

A major hospital in Midlands had long relied on a chlorine dioxide system for water safety. However, after years of service, the system began showing signs of age, struggling with maintenance demands and requiring ongoing manual handling of hazardous chemicals. The dosing unit’s location on a stairwell further complicated safe operation, creating potential risks for facilities staff.

The Challenge

With the existing unit approaching end-of-life and water hygiene concerns ongoing, the hospital needed a safer and more sustainable solution. Any new system had to deliver reliable Legionella control while removing the challenges associated with transporting and storing chemicals in a high-traffic healthcare environment.

The Solution

The team recommended Genox, a fully automated secondary disinfection system that generates hypochlorous acid (HOCl) on-site using just salt, water, and electricity. By eliminating the need for chemical deliveries and storage, Genox significantly reduces operational risk while enhancing compliance.

Why Genox was chosen:

  • No chemical transport or storage required, ideal for restricted access areas
  • A safer, more sustainable alternative for healthcare environments
  • Minimal disruption during installation
  • Continuous protection against waterborne risks

Value Added

  • The installation was completed smoothly and safely, with zero disruption to hospital operations
  • Legionella levels are now under control, and operational safety has improved
  • On-site teams reported high satisfaction with both the performance and ease of management
