Kickstart Your Career with an Apprenticeship at Marlowe Environmental Services

Looking to gain hands-on experience, earn while you learn, and secure a future in a thriving industry? At Marlowe Environmental Services, our apprenticeship programme is designed to provide the perfect balance of practical experience and formal training, helping individuals grow into skilled professionals.

With a range of apprenticeship opportunities available across different departments, we are committed to developing the next generation of talent. Here’s everything you need to know about joining our exciting programme.

How Does the Marlowe Apprenticeship Programme Work?

The length of an apprenticeship depends on the course, but it can last up to 30 months. Our apprentices split their time between:

  • 80% on-the-job training – gaining real-world experience in their chosen field
  • 20% off-the-job learning – completing structured training, which may include online modules, day releases to a local college, or short study sessions

Throughout the programme, apprentices have monthly meetings with their line manager and tutor to track progress and ensure they are supported every step of the way.

What Apprenticeships Do We Offer?

We offer a wide variety of apprenticeships across our business, including:

  • Water Treatment Technician
  • Business Administration
  • HR Support
  • IT Infrastructure & Cyber Security
  • L3 Supervisor & Level 5 Operations Manager
  • Gas Engineering Operative

…and many more! With hundreds of apprenticeships available, there’s always scope to expand and introduce new roles.

How Many Apprentices Do We Have at Marlowe?

We are proud to have 14 apprentices currently working across different departments, gaining valuable experience while making real contributions to the business.

What Support Do Apprentices Receive?

At Marlowe, we believe that support and mentorship are key to a successful apprenticeship. Apprentices benefit from:

  • Guidance from their line manager & tutor through regular check-ins
  • Monthly meetings to review progress and address any challenges
  • A dedicated apprentice buddy group to share experiences with fellow apprentices
  • Additional support from the HR Business Partner & Learning & Development Manager

What Happens After an Apprenticeship?

Marlowe Environmental Services is committed to long-term career development. Most of our apprentices’ secure full-time positions within the company upon completing their programme.

  • We rarely offer apprenticeships without a job at the end—so long as the apprentice successfully completes their studies and excels in their role.
  • Career growth doesn’t stop there! Apprentices can progress into higher-level qualifications, including supervisor and management apprenticeships.
  • We also offer internal management training courses to help ambitious employees move up the career ladder.

Who Can Apply for an Apprenticeship?

  • Anyone can apply when an apprenticeship vacancy becomes available.
  • Ideally, applicants should have GCSEs in Maths & English (Level 4 or above), but it’s still possible to work towards functional skills alongside the apprenticeship.
  • Current Marlowe employees can also apply for apprenticeships relevant to their roles.
  • Spaces are limited each year, and funding is fairly allocated across the group.
