George Searle is a Senior Account Manager and Technical Consultant, specialising in precommission cleaning, filtration and remedial services for closed-system HVAC used within commercial and industrial applications in both the private and public sector, including data centres, hospitals and manufacturing facilities. He has worked within the Marlowe Environmental Services (MES) for 12 years, predominantly for the WCS Group.

George’s areas of expertise, include:
- In-line and side stream filtration: Filtering out contaminants in water systems at all stages of operation, to prevent contamination and improve efficiency
- Remedial flushing and pre-commissioning cleaning: Ensuring water is clean and debris free at the point of handover and following the identification of an issue.
- Specialist water treatment solutions: Including chemical and non-chemical methods such as UV.
Overall, George helps buildings comply with BSRIA guides BG29 and BG50, which cover best practice in maintaining closed systems efficiency and operational certainty throughout a water systems life.
George said: “As a consultant and account manager, I am called upon to advise and support a variety of critical water-based systems. Data centres, for example, are a key area for MES as demand grows due to the rapid expansion of AI – clean water is essential for cooling this crucial infrastructure. Other applications include schools, prisons, food production and the industrial sector, all of which require clean water for temperature control and specific processes.
The majority of my work centres around filtration, using highly specialised products. Side stream filtration, for example, provides a more robust defence against scale build-up and corrosion than inhibitor alone, quickly cleaning up existing systems and improving efficiency, leading to cost savings and extended asset life, while making future chemical dosing easier and quicker.
Inline filtration is deployed in a variety of water treatment scenarios, from maintaining the cleanliness of heating and cooling systems to removing impurities from wastewater. Bespoke filtration fabrications can be made to suit specific application requirements.
Whatever water treatment technologies we use, sustainability is at the core of our approach. MES is committed to using energy efficient filtration solutions, and developing water conservation strategies, minimising harmful chemicals where possible, all with Return on Investment (ROI) clearly demonstrated through measurable energy and cost savings over time.
Apart from unrivalled expertise in the water treatment sector, MES has specific experience working in sensitive and challenging locations. Prisons, for example, are high security with works requiring careful planning around inmates and staff; at present we work with nearly all of the UK’s correctional facilities.
With access to so many different experts and water treatment solutions across the business, MES has an extensive pool of knowledge to draw from, so can provide a total approach to water system management, delivering bespoke schemes that meet the specific challenges of a given application – from advice at the design stage and beyond.”
